2010 output and exports of Chinese leather new record

China Leather Industry Association, said the report, despite the Chinese leather industry in the first quarter of 2010 by the global economic crisis, but the tanning industry is still developing rapidly after three quarters, the annual output and exports of leather industry are setting a new records.

Industry output grew by 26.9% to 747.3 billion yuan, accounting to 5.4% of total output value of light industry.

Rapid growth of import and export volume of leather, a record high, leather and leather goods imports increased 33.8% to 53.83 billion U.S. dollars, imports rose by 34% to $ 6,110,000,000. Footwear exports increased by 26.6% to 33.66 billion U.S. dollars; with the same period last year, footwear exports rose by 21.5% to almost 10 billion pairs; imports increased by 13.9%, worth 8.5 billion U.S. dollars, increased 33.6%.

Light leather mainly in Zhejiang and Hebei, Shandong and the central and western provinces, but, such as Guangxi, Sichuan, Gansu and Hubei, the production is also growing rapidly.

Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang accounted for the production of leather shoes for 80% of national output, Shandong, Jiangxi, Henan and Chongqing, the share of 3.9%, 2.5%, 1.7% and 1%.
